ROSSIGNOL TRAPET GEVREY CHAMBERTAIN VIELLES VIGNES 2022
This is a selection from just over five hectares of 45-85 year old vines, across eight different parcels, with light gravelly soils.
ur plots, grouped together in the Vieilles Vignes cuvée of Gevrey-Chambertin, come from three different locations:
– The northernmost vineyards of the village in the places called “En Combe” and “Clos de Combe” are fairly deep and clayey plots, with a regular slope, which produce sapid, dense and structured wines.
– The plots further east and closer to the estate, in the localities known as Les Crais, Justice, and Grandes Raies, are made up of colluvial deposits from the Combe de Lavaux which overlooks Gevrey-Chambertin. These soils, on a very gentle slope, gravelly and very well-drained, produce wines of great finesse and elegance.
– The vineyards located south of Gevrey-Chambertin (in the lieu-dits “Clos de l'Arche”, “Fourneaux”, “Croix des Champs”) are fairly silty soils on a limestone bedrock. They produce wines with great complexity and a beautiful aromatic intensity.
The blending and bottling of wines from these different terroirs, with vines whose average age is around 50 years, gives a single cuvée of Gevrey-Chambertin at the Domaine.
Each plot contributes its qualities to the entire vintage.
