PETER LEHMANN MASTERS EIGHT SONGS SHIRAZ
Peter Lehmann had great passion for the arts and ‘Eight Songs for A Mad King’ was one of his favourite ensemble musical works. Inspired by its soft harmonies, Peter created a wine to show an elegant and distinctly softer side to Barossa Shiraz.
A rich and fragrant nose with abundant dark fruit, plum, blueberry, all spice and dusty cedar notes. The palate is all about texture and mouthfeel, with rich ripe plums, dark red fruits, creamy chocolate, silky tannin and a pure fruited long savoury finish.
Sourced from longest-standing loyal Peter Lehmann growers, Peter Scholz (Willows Vineyard and Light Pass), Mike McCarthy (Bethany), Simon Hahn (Nuriootpa), Mark Mader (Light Pass), Ralph Schrapel, (Ebenezer). The grapes are harvested in the morning. Then fermented on skins for up to two weeks. Individual components were pressed and transferred to barrel for MLF fermentation. Following MLF, the wine batches for Eight Songs were selected at their annual classification tasting, then blended and matured for a further 18 months in 40% new French oak hogsheads (60% older).
