CHARDONNAY FOR CONNOISSEURS
A selection of wines available for those interested in exploring new wines. Each set is organized around a theme; some focus on different styles of the same varietal, some are based on geographic regions, and others are grouped by style. If a specific group appeals to you or if you already enjoy one of the wines in a set, give it a try.
Chardonnay history is tainted by some pretty bad treatment. Luckily that is a thing of the past and this incredibly versatile grape is making a comeback, and this group display ‘s some of its finer qualities.
Domaine de la Motte Petit Chablis 12.5%abv
Chardonnay
France (Burgundy)
(Sustainable)
Aromatic fruit with the tiniest hint of sandalwood smoke on the nose. The palate has lovely weight with ripe, fleshy cooked lemons, a touch of stone fruit and a good mineral backbone. Far superior than the name "Petit" might suggest.
Francois Carillon Cap au Sud Chardonnay 13.5%abv
Chardonnay
France
(Vegetarian)
Rounded and rich, with delicate citrus, peach and apricot flavours. A joyful combination of the warmth of the Languedoc with the classic élevage of Burgundy.
Fossil Point Chardonnay 13.2%abv
Chardonnay
USA (Edna Valley, California)
Flinty and clean, with notes of Asian pear and Meyer lemon blossom. Juicy fruit notes of tangerine and vanilla on the palate.
