CONNOISSEUR'S CHRISTMAS COMBO
A trio of smart wines for that wine geek in your life, on the lighter side to compliment the Christmas period, they don’t need food, but each can work very nicely with various seasonal dishes if they are still around, come the big day.
Each combo has a fizz, a white and a red. There may be some simple food suggestions in the notes but if you’re looking for something to match a meal not covered here, or you want something similar but have different characteristics in mind (lighter/heavier/fruitier/oakier…) come in and see us.
These options, whilst still approachable are beginning to get a little more serious. medium bodied but staring to show a little more personality.
Domaine J. Laurens Le Moulin, AOP Blanquette de Limoux NV 12%abv
Mauzac Blanc/Chardonnay
France (Languedoc)
(Sustainable)
This bone-dry blanquette has a tight and finely textured mousse. It shows great typicity with apple blossoms and honey on the nose with a bright, crisp and delicately nutty palate.
Cline Cellars Ancient Vines Zinfandel, Contra Costa County AVA 14.5%abv
Zinfandel/Carignan
USA (California)
(Vegetarian, Vegan, Sustainable)
Ancient Vines Zinfandel shows spicy, bright strawberry, coffee and chocolate characters. Ripe fruit and soft tannins make this a mouth-coating rich vintage. Aging on new and used oak has lent this wine a strong vanilla quality that nicely complements the rich, forward old vine fruit.
Madai Origen Godello, DO Bierzo 13%abv.
Godello
Spain (Bierzo)
Aromas of apple and peach with herbal hints. The palate has ripe stone fruit - smooth and balanced in the mouth with bright acidity and an appealing citrus and savoury tang on the finish.
